This strategy picture was developed in a co-creative process with Fabienne Schwartz. She is doing her doctorate at Humboldt University in Berlin in the field of sign language education.
German Sign Language (DGS) was not widely used in German schools for a long time due to a history of oppression and oralism in Europe. Now many laws, perceptions and attitudes have changed, and Fabienne Schwartz explores how these changes are part of the Margarete-von-Witzlebenschule and shape its implementation of this language.
The strategy picture shows pictorial metaphors for the different positions, areas of tension, concerns, opportunities and goals that are being discussed on the topic. The visualization can help all participants to gain an overview and find clarity on their own position. The aim is to enable constructive cooperation, even if there are different views on pedagogy with a focus on “hearing and communication”.
